Romanian transition to neoliberalism that started in the 90’s after the revolution, followed by its European integration, was marked by a noticeable ideological shift and massively distorted different dimensions of the society - beliefs that transgressed and colonised entire parts of cities. Their structures, architectures, images, artefacts are haunted with the motif of the pyramid. The pyramid witnessed a moment of transition, its meaning transgressed as Romania was reinventing itself.

In Pitesti, the communists built a biologic water purifying pyramid. The pyramids of Giza are an element of local antisemitic conspiracy theories. In the 2000’s a financial pyramid called the National Investment Fund collapsed.
