The site-specific installation Quadratisch, Praktisch, Blut consists of a modular metal structure enclosing the executive table formerly used by the manager of the Scarabeus Pharma Company in Monheim’s Mack Pyramid. The structure carries a few objects: a moving metal carcass, three garlic shaped glass carafes, and a glass sculpture with vampire fangs. Part of the installation is also a self-flagellating metal corpus.
The installation entraps the grandiose executive table using Gothic-like forged fence elements coated in zinc. Rubber wedges secure the metal structure as a scaffolding, that is see through and separates the room into cubicle-like spaces. The skeletal figure, staining the ‘minimalist’ aesthetic of the furniture, is held upright by the structure. It enables the skeleton to periodically perform its libidinal movements and dangle the appropriated ritualistic coins attached to its ribs. The garlic carafes, already filled with blood, absolve the skeleton from the sin of consumption. The metal corpus, a sculpture that resembles a Tesla Cybertruck, periodically jerks its armor and self-flagellates with the built-in whip inscribed with ‘ZERO’ to remind itself of the original sin, absolve itself from guilt and therefore allow itself to exist. The glassmade cavity of the vampire mirrors the visitors, framing them within the metal embedded text: ‘I KNOW, BUT I GOT USED TO SUCK’.
