Catalina Bucos is a filmmaker, performer and artist from the Republic of Moldova. Born in 1997, she has a diploma in graphic arts at the National Art College from Chisinau, Alexandru Plamadeala, and currently studies media arts and film at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.
Based on her experience of growing up in the post Soviet Moldova, her practice is a continuous search for a poetic expression of the political. Using the tools of cinema, installations, documentary or performance, she immerses the viewer in a joyful, rich, subversive and complex experience. She creates narratives that consist of collages of personal stories, mainstream aesthetics, popular narratives, mythology and philosophy. All of them come together in corrected narratives that represent the world from the grass roots, from the Global South.
